Matthew P. Poppel has a general civil litigation practice. While his practice is focused on commercial, business and employment disputes, it has encompassed a wide variety of other civil matters.
Mr. Poppel represents clients in state and federal court, as well as before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and in arbitration, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He has an AV pre-eminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Prior to establishing his own practice, Mr. Poppel worked for a number of years in the litigation department of a large firm in Boston.
Mr. Poppel received his J.D. in 1984, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was on the Georgetown Law Journal. While at Georgetown, he was a Legislative Aide on Capitol Hill in the Washington, D.C. office on Hon. John Conyers (D-MI), who was then serving on the Judiciary Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Poppel received his B.A. in 1980, magna cum laude, from Boston University, where he was a Trustee Scholar.
